About
This self-paced course is ideal for new investors and entrepreneurs who want to understand the financial side of their decisions as they take on risk in pursuit of wealth creation. A financial model is a mathematical prediction that helps you analyze and make better decisions about the value of your investments. Across two modules you'll learn to build a basic financial model for two purposes: valuing a publicly traded stock using the discounted cash flow method, and valuing a startup as part of raising capital from investors. The course answers two questions: "If I were to buy a specific stock, how much should it be worth?" and "If I'm considering building or investing in a startup, how can I tell how valuable the business might be?" Module 1 - Financial Modeling for New Investors: investing background, arbitrage and investor types, a step-by-step method to calculate a stock's price, and modern portfolio theory and AI. Module 2 - Financial Modeling for Entrepreneurs: entrepreneurship background, sources of startup capital, a step-by-step method to value a startup, and entrepreneurship theory and AI. Each module includes written lessons, key definitions, a video walkthrough by the instructor, and a knowledge check.
